This garden presented a challenge: how do you combine both play and entertainment spaces of high style in a small, steep garden? Our solution is two patios visually linked but distinct in function. The upper patio is an outdoor living room where oversized custom concrete furniture, a fire table, and built-in barbecue make it suitable for lounging and small gatherings. The lower patio is a multi-purpose play space that includes a concrete paver basketball court and life-size marble chess board. This patio can also be used for entertaining large parties. Wood fences and tall bamboo along the neighboring buildings screen the garden, and built-in lighting creates a cozy nighttime atmosphere.
