Railroad Loft
This urban residential loft was a result of an impassioned collaborative effort between client and designer, yielding a functional and streamlined series of spaces that leverages surrounding views, integrates historical context and provides a retreat from the frenetic railroad district in which it resides. The historical context drove the design to integrate a skewed floor plan that inherently developed the open floor plan of the living spaces. The 1,400 square foot 3rd story loft opens onto to a 500 square foot private deck that has sweeping views of the downtown and surrounding hills. Inside, natural dark wood cabinets and floors respect the adjacent circa 1912’s heavy timber & brick commercial building, providing an aesthetically seamless transition from old to new, both in use and materiality.
