These clients recently purchased a home that had freshly painted gold walls throughout, floor-length tie-back gold draperies, and dining room wallpaper. The clients' existing furniture did fit right in (a solid gold sofa and burgundy and gold striped chairs), but it was tired and dated. Most of the clients' existing furniture had to remain, as did the gold paint and wallpaper. So our first step was to update the room's color palette. We took it from dated gold and burgundy to a fresh new palette of gold, taupe, and teal. We rearranged the furniture, reupholstered the chairs with a taupe leopard print, added a taupe and gold geometric wing chair, installed pleated paisley draperies on existing rods, and purchased new lamps, art, and accessories.
