Creating Usable Spaces in a Sloped Yard
When you have a small yard, you need to make the most of it, and that’s just what we did. First, we planned for a very low-maintenance yard full of complementary stonework and Douglas Fir bark mulch. The eavestrough is beautifully made to run into a dry stone creek bed using river rocks and rundle rock.
Moving to the backyard, the elevation was very steep, so using a retaining wall, we created two spaces with a covered sitting area on top with views of the mountains and river in the back, and a lower level patio that offers more privacy and access to a walking path. Built into the wall are hidden drains to manage water and keep the integrity of the retaining wall.
