Rose Hill Addition

This family was expecting their second child and about to outgrow their 1200 SF house, but they loved their location and couldn’t afford a larger home in the same area. The current house had 2 small bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs and an office upstairs. It also had a closed kitchen with just a small eating nook that barely could accommodate the family and had no room for guests. All the rooms were quite dark. The owners wanted to add a bedroom on the main floor to accommodate everyone sleeping on the same level, a real dining area, more storage space, and room for the children to play with sightlines from the kitchen, lots of light, and views to the back yard.

After reviewing multiple floorplan options, the layout they chose gave them the space they needed while minimizing the budget by keeping most of the kitchen as-is and re-purposing the existing upper cabinets as storage cabinets on the back of the island. The vaulted ceilings and large windows make the space bright, open, and feel larger than it is.
