Sagaponack Residence

Behind the dunes of Long Island’s south shore, this residence is the graceful summer home of a New York couple and their daughters. Its composition of stacked, interlocking volumes emerge from their landscape of native fauna, and continue the rolling motion of the landscape and nearby ocean. Clean lines clearly demarcate the home’s functions while gracious interiors and levels of integrated exterior spaces provide a welcoming character that flows with life’s transitions. A material palette of wood, stone, glass, and stucco borrows cues from surrounding natural elements, and allows a façade of varying transparencies to communicate the public and private uses of different spaces. Bridging family and function with social space, the residence embodies the values of its occupants.
