The Stone Seed Pod sculptures and fountains that we create at Mariposa are made of dry stacked stone, built using no mortar or glue. The Seed Pod sculptures are either stacked roughly or hand cut with a grinder and sanded to shape. The dimensions of each of the Seed sculptures are set according to the Golden Mean proportions. The Golden Mean is a mathematical proportion, found all over in nature, in seeds, in shells, in eggs, in flowers and in trees. The Golden Mean proportion has been replicated in ancient and modern architecture, giving grand structures, such as the Pantheon in Greece, their simplistic connection to nature.
