The functionality of your space is always reflected in the materials we choose. This guiding principle led us to create one of our favorite themes: “soft concrete.”
Beginning with the minimalist concrete exterior of our client’s house, we undertook to contrast that hardness with touches of coziness.
This theme expresses the general idea of an inside-out environment. We bring the outdoors in, converting the living space into a warm, diverse environment with the bright tones of wooden surfaces that grow out from the concrete, like trees out of mountains. The fireplace is the heart and soul of the design, living fire giving warmth to the industrial concrete hearth, while the entire first floor is open to the landscape outside with floor-to-ceiling windows, creating air and transparency.
Hard and soft. Heavy and light. It’s like the contrasts of a Nirvana song embodied in a cozy modern space. If your personality is too complex to be defined by a solitary perspective, if you are a study in contrasts, “soft concrete” might be for you.
