Spirit Bay
This is a design project for a one-bedroom apartment located in the heart of New York.
The general principle is creating the vibe of the interior based on functional zoning of the apartment that included materials and shapes of the furniture. The lighting scenario of the apartment was based on relaxing lounge light, where we considered reflective materials and the amount of daylight in the apartment in direct connection to our light sources.
We applied a style which was a fusion contemporary to the family heritage of the client.
By minimizing the quantity of pieces, we focused on the quality of the space. Since the interior concept was created during the height of the pandemic, lots of decorative elements were reconsidered during the implementation stage.
The design plan for the apartment was developed for a different property, and became a universal language between us and the client when she moved to a new place; since we successfully applied the plan to the new apartment, we proved that this language was working.
The project was developed through online engagement mainly, when we would give the client a road map of the project evaluation and support her on every step. This approach allowed us to continue the process through the lockdown of the city, which was important in our ability to keep going no matter what. That’s why we call it Spirit Bay. It stands apart from the general global anxiety surrounding us and has a special place in our hearts.
