Clients hired Village Stonesmith for design/build to improve an unusable backyard that was dark, overgrown with weeds & old trees, and attracted rodents (see 'Before & After' photos). Clients have children and wanted a clean & modern space to relax, dine, grill, entertain, and play. Flooding was occurring from east side, and trashcans and other objects needed storage spaces. After the design process, old trees & shrubs were removed; the flooding was remediated with drainage pipes and a dry laid fieldstone retaining wall was created that also functions as a planter; a bluestone terrace and brick terrace with monolithic bluestone steppers were installed, along with artificial turf, plantings, and cedar fences, cladding & gates.
