A gut renovation of this three-story townhome along the Southport Corridor of Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood called for custom millwork throughout. The kitchen, with its contrasting black and white is the center of the home. The island cabinetry is finished in a semi-gloss black, then topped with an immaculate slab of white Carrera marble. Above the island hang two hand-built pendant lights, made from reclaimed blue glass shades and lamp parts.

The bookcase leading upstairs was custom finished to imitate the surrounding wood.

The master bath and adjacent walk-in closet are closed off by a "Shoji' sliding door, which is made of solid walnut and has a floral motif in the rice paper panels.
