A transitional kitchen created to blend the existing oak trim colors with the new cabinetry in a 1970's split level home. The subtle grain of the alder worked well in toning down the oak accents and then I mixed counter surfaces tied in the traditional with contemporary elements.
In all, we stained the maple floor to coordinate throughout the main level, updated the stairwell, addressed painting and lighting throughout, added exterior venting and created a "nook" for the dog's feeding area as well as adding an island that made this an eat-in kitchen.
