The Right Spa Installation Makes All the Difference

“For this project, we were asked to design and build a portable spa into a modern-looking new deck,” says Bill Renter of Long Island Hot Tub. “During the process, we helped the homeowners choose the right-sized portable spa to meet their needs, and integrated it harmoniously into a sleek, two-story deck.”

The harmony between spa and deck was partly accomplished by adding a spa encasement that coordinated with the project’s “Vintage Lantern” Trex Transcend decking planks. The result is encased mahogany-toned PVC boards that look like wood, but, like the decking, do not rot. Together, both the spa and its cabinet suggest a modern, rich, upscale look — and by no means humble.

Set high on a platform, the spa is conveniently located just steps out their back door, ensuring they will use the spa even during snowy and cold winters — something these homeowners especially wanted.

“Winter is often when many spa owners feel more of a need for hot water massage jets to rejuvenate cold bones and muscles,” adds Renter. “This particular brand of hot tub offers interchangeable jet massages, or JetPaks, to personalize, or ‘localize’ a massage therapy where it’s most needed.”

One special project feature: The Deck and Patio Company who built the deck chose a cable railing to surround it, and when sitting in the hot tub, family and friends still enjoy the property’s lovely water views.

This project won The Deck and Patio Company, and the owner of Long Island Hot Tub, Bill Renter, a prestigious 2014 Merit award from the Northeast Spa & Pool Association (NESPA).
