This project aimed to solve the following problems:

1) Create a 20' by 25' redwood deck at the same floor height as the living room that previously opened out to a step and bare dirt.

2) Create a custom gas fire-table for enjoying the deck in cooler weather.

3) Create an area for vegetables and herbs by building a raised bed with stone walls.

4) Create a low-maintenance, deer-resistant planting.

5) Screen neighbor windows from the deck.

6) Provide rapid privacy from the deck to the street.

7) Refresh the front lawn and add more flowers.

8) Create a seating area off the deck.

9) Provide steps up to an area for a future hot-tub.

10) Provide a path from the front entrance to the side.

11) Light the garden at night.

12) Add additional electrical and hose outlets for convenience.

13) Create a flat area for a hammock.

14) Various small projects including pruning a large maple tree over the house and adding drainage.

15) Re-mulching the entire yard.

16) Creating a level area and small retaining wall for a future shed.

The budget for this project in 2019 was $125k dollars including the deck, walls patios, amending soil and all plants installed, irrigated and mulched. The design cost $900. for hard-scape and plants.

Each of the two clients had different preferences for privacy, and use of the site. A lot of design is listening and finding solutions that meet both people's needs and exploring which options fit within a preferred budget. This job was done ahead of our contract date due to a focus on one job with full attention until complete.
