Initially, the design team had proposed an alternate layout for the kitchen, which was a substantial improvement over the existing layout. However, the homeowners vetoed the new design because of budget considerations. The design solution included keeping the same basic cabinet layout but by the creative selection of materials and finishes, the end product looked different enough from their original kitchen that a casual observer would think it was a new layout.

The cabinet doors are an ivory painted finish with a hand applied chocolate brown glaze. The raised-panel cabinets have full overlay doors and drawers and constructed with high precision to maintain a 1/8” gap between every side of a door and drawer.
