I painted the cabinets with a silver paint, then added a brown patina and some cream highlights so the colours in the bar area were harmonious with the adjacent sitting room's decor.

After: the red areas of the console have been divided into sections and adorned with an oil based pattern reminiscent of tortoiseshell. The table looks ready for a new start in life.

This kitchen was 20 years old, in great shape, but a bit obsolete with its bleached oak finish. The owner didn't want to remodel, both because of costs and because she hated the idea of the mess she would have to endure while it was being installed.

This window frame was not turning out to be as sophisticated as the designer had planned. She asked me to complete the project by painting the frame in faux marble so it would blend in with the real marble on the wall. In collaboration with dw-design.

This nightstand had been custom-built years ago and was still perfect in terms of size and shape for its users, but it needed to be aesthetically updated.

The owners and their designer liked the silver leaf look, and since both tables had a rustic texture we chose to emphasize it by adding a brown glaze to the silver leaf finish.

This side table belonged to a musician who wanted to update her home studio to a sleeker and more contemporary look. It was to be lacquered black like her grand piano and we decided to take advantage of the leather insert on top to add an artistic touch.

This Chinese coffee table was brought to me to restore. the lacquer had been damaged by solvent and the paint was chipping in places.

I was able to reproduce the original colours, to clean or camouflage the blemishes and to repaint the damaged parts on the cranes and landscape.

I sanded the top to make it smooth again and painted it with a glossy lacquer. I also gilded the knobs and ornaments over to give them back brilliance and glamour.

I was asked to upgrade 4 rustic dressers and tall boys to give them a contemporary look. After consulting with the designer I cut off the feet, sanded the painted flowers off and repainted the whole set with a metallic white paint, making them both a better fit for two teenage girls bedroom.

The top was unsalvageable and had to be replaced with a piece of MDF cut to the same shape and dimensions. The legs were contaminated with mouldy spots and the finish has peeled off in some areas.

With inspiration from the smaller pocket tables and the damaged original I proceeded to reproduce the original pattern and colours, adding some age spots and worn out details so it would still fit with the rest of the set. The legs have been decontaminated and repaired.

It was updated by painting it with a burgundy chalk paint with a dark wax finish on the outside and with a grey clay paint on the inside.

This delicate side table found on the sidewalk had been damaged by a small dog and needed some TLC, a new finish and new hardware to grace its new home.

Owned and beloved by a lady who had bought a new condo, this rather traditional and ornate curio had to be updated in order to meet the aesthetics of her grown daughter who was sharing the space.

By choosing an interesting blueish gray and letting some of the gilded carvings show through the paint, we were able to give a less traditional, more singular look to the beautiful piece without it having to loose its frontispiece, as had been the original plan. The curio is now a conversation...
