The goal for this space was to create a cozy sitting room/dining room for a family of 4. We opened up the walls from the dining room to the living room to create an open concept into 1 larger cohesive space. In the evenings, the family enjoys reading together and sometimes work from home. Lighting and storage for unsightly device cables were the main focus for these tasks. So we relocated the ceiling light to the center of the sitting area and added table and floor lamps for maximum reading light.

Closed floating storage under the TV was installed, where they could hide video games, device cords, chargers and anything else they didn’t want on display. They needed more seating for the whole family, so from the two-seater futon they had, we opted for two couches with ample room for six instead! Quality time with each other face to face was also important on their wish list, so we placed the two couches facing one another for a symmetrical look and maximum face time.
