'Under-the-Sea' Landscape Makeover
My client downsized to this lovely home in San Diego that was built in 1989. Overgrown Juniper shrubs dominated the landscape, an update was desperately needed.
Keeping in mind the client's love for tropical landscapes while balancing out the need for drought-tolerant plants, I came up with a colorful and low-water mix of plants for this home with an "Under-the-Sea" theme. We used a mix of low-water tropicals, succulents, and Mediterranean plants to come up with this lush and colorful garden full of texture and movement.
Also, the home's front entry hardscape looked dated and was in bad shape structurally. I designed an updated entry walkway and courtyard using an integral-color concrete and clean lines. We also installed new wood fencing, and a new glass view wall in the back to maximize the gorgeous views.
The client is thrilled with the results, and so are the hummingbirds that visited while I was taking photos! Enjoy!
