This wasn't just an "unfinished" basement, this basement had no plumbing and only a few windows! We did not want to have a raised toilet in the bathroom so it took a couple of weeks to jackhammer the flooring to get to the sewer line. Concrete was piled thigh-high and dragged up the stairs in 5 gallon pails.
Sidewalks and walls were sledgehammered to make way for windows and window wells, ducting was moved to the perimeter of the rooms so there are no lowered ceilings. The media room has sound proofing insulation in the ceiling hidden by stylish wood panels which also defines the media room from the rest of the area without any walls. There is a full wet bar including a wine fridge, a beverage fridge and a dishwasher. We kept it dark and moody for the men and added pops of pink for the ladies! Man cave or lady cave???
