This Tudor style home on a quiet tree lined street suited our clients and their two children in may ways, but needed some updating. We had worked with the clients on their previous home so I knew their tastes well. We started by remodeling the master bathroom and the kitchen using traditional elements, like the arched wood hood over the range, while incorporating more contemporary details like the narrow horizontal rows of tile in the backsplash. The same wood arch was used in the master bathroom to create an alcove for the tub, with streamlined fittings and sinks lending a contemporary edge. The walls thorough out the main level were painted in dark tones, offsetting the lighter colors used in furniture, floor coverings, and cabinetry in the kitchen. Much of the furniture was kept very clean lined and simple, which contrasted beautifully with the traditional architecture and lighting.
