The existing home with a modest Cape Cod front façade, sitting on its beautiful hillside overlooking the Chagrin River, lacked both "presence" and a larger-scale connected living inside.

It was necessary to relocate the kitchen to the rear of the house, where an existing fireplace adds an intimate soft-seating area. The stairway was also relocated onto a new front facing entry gable to create a flowing, functional plan that offers contemporary and gracious living. A new vaulted family room off the rear has diagonal views into both the kitchen and dining rooms, creating a connected yet formal arrangement. The expanded second floor and new master suite offer additional views over the river valley.
