A small, quaint kitchen in Mountain Brook needed a slight make over for this young couple with a growing family. By removing a wall between the kitchen and existing formal dining room, we were able to open up the foot print for better entertaining. With the wall removed, it made sense to add a large island for additional prep space as well as casual seating. The perimeter cabinets were retained but painted a soft white. The new island is a slight contrast in a cool gray featuring a beautiful slab of Cambria Brittanica quartz which also appears on the rest of the counters in the kitchen. The 45 degree laid herringbone subway tile is an elegant design element as the backsplash. Stainless steel appliances and beautiful pendant lights round out the space.
