Westlake Residence
The goal was to transform of a plain vanilla, dated master bathroom into a work of art full of 'aha' touches with seamless function and modern elegance. The challenge was to create a cohesive storage, shower and vanity area in a long narrow space without making it cramped and uninviting. To create a perception of openness, all tiled areas were fitted with lighter monochromatic shades of color with ambient and strategically placed light fixtures ensuring consistent luminosity throughout. The shower by itself, is a work of art, with linen tiles contrasted by beautiful tiles with waves. Meticulously selected accent tiles, lighting and shower fixtures add vibrancy and visual interest to the canvas. All of this framed in a frame less shower to ensure an unobstructed visual treat for the observer. To maintain continuity with the linen tiles in the shower area, mahogany stained cabinets with horizontal, barely-there veins were custom made by a local craftsman. Stain color was selected to be dark enough to provide contrast without darkening the space. Linen cabinet at the end of the vanity was installed from floor to ceiling to maximize storage. The two separate closet spaces was combined into one and custom cabinets were designed to keep it organised. To add a final touch of 'aha', a heavy custom wood-and-stainless steel barn-door with modern handles creates the perfect entryway into the master bathroom.
