This historic townhouse is located off Washington Park in Albany, NY. Like many historic townhouses in the area, the kitchen was originally located in the basement. We added a new kitchen to the first floor, installed 9'-6" double custom Case Doors to access the back patio, and opened the dropped ceiling to recover the original height of 13'-0". Natural light that highlights the historic architectural features of the house. We carefully integrated modern amenities like an induction cook top, soap stone counter tops, and LED lighting. Custom cabinets by local artisan millworker, Frank Curran, create an airy, soaring space. The space's precise alignments along the datum line make for an efficient and aesthetically pleasing workspace.
