This looks to me like its stainless steel which looks best when kept polished. If you have kids this can be a tall order. Have you thought about zinc which is gets better as it ages? Zinc naturally oxidizes over time, cleans up easily and it will be a bit more "family friendly" in terms of maintenance.

Love the backsplash! Are the subway tiles white or bone? Are they regular gloss subway or the ice subway tiles? Also, is that taupe grout? Many thanks! I am getting my kitchen completely redone and this would look great! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks! Tiles are white (handmade ones, so each one has a neat irregularity to it and softer edges). Grout is gray. Tiles are not iced, just glossy. Hope that helps.
