The most important thing about a small kitchen is the basic triangle layout of the sink, refrigerator and range. For small kitchens, I like galley and U shape layouts.
If you search small kitchens in the photo section of Houzz you'll get 119,926 hits.
How's this for small, but functional?

The flooring is a porcelain tile from Architessa formerly Architectural Ceramics called Kyoto Anthracite. We believe it may be discontinued now, but they have similar options to offer.

In this image it's probably about 36" off the floor. The legs can be made longer if needed though and the stools are also adjustable.
