A Cottage Feel

This half of a galley kitchen became s much more by adding just a little extension to a side wall and wrapping the kitchen into a U. We also opened the kitchen to the sunroom and added a mini bar and island. We combined a white quartz top for the U and a green granite top for the island.
Bead board doors can be a bit much in a small space on every cabinet so we used them here for accents. The stagger allows for the beautiful teal wall paint to peak thru.

Here we combined the island with the mini bar. It allows more counter space that can be used as a bar or a buffet.

the mini bar shown here uses the bead board doors and glass doors as an accent. Glass is a great was to show glassware. A small wine cooler at the end of the run shows off the selection of wines. Bead board is also used as a backsplash here.

Stainless steel appliances give this cottage style kitchen just a little modern touch. The stainless is tied in with satin nickel knobs and pulls. The glass/stone tile backsplash has small pewter tile accents that tie in with the stainless also.

Gotta love the big chunky legs! The island is a long extension of the mini bar and the big turned legs do a great job holding up the heavy granite top. This island joins together the sunroom and the kitchen and provides a wonderful eating area.

This tiny room was basically a big hallway to the laundry room. Now it boasts a small office area and a nice sized pantry. What better a place to gaze out the window to the lovely backyard while catching up on a little business.

The white contrasts nicely with the strong teal walls. The satin nickel pulls adds a lot of character to the file drawers and storage drawers in the desk. The bookcase towers on each side of the window provide even more storage for books and is a great place to display treasures.

Pot and pan drawers work so nicely next to a cooking surface, everything at hands length. This countertop works nicely and adds yet another area to settle a small buffet area when entertaining. the glass tile looks so nice wrapping around the range area.

This white kitchen is so fresh with a deep contrasting teal walls. Just a few cabinets have bead board which keeps it light. Behind the extended wall that holds the refrigerator is a shallow pantry storage, leaving a traffic pattern that flows to the laundry room.

Fresh and bold, heavy and light, modern and cottage, the whole project is a contrast and it all works. Some of it is retro, some of it is modern from lighting to fabric it all flows.

We found these chairs and they are perfect! Such a perfect sitting area right off the kitchen. The area is full of gentle sunlight and is a comfy place to curl up with a book.
