Alameda Gold Coast Dining Room
More than anything, our client wanted her dining room to be pretty. And from the first, it had a lot of potential. It was filled with light, and blessed with high ceilings and wood floors. However, it was marred by an non-working brick fireplace on the angled wall, which both complicated traffic flow and took away from the classic styling of the space.
Once the fireplace was refaced, the floor patched, and the ceiling coving fashioned to match the rest of the room, the feeling of everything improved considerably. And that only increased once we painted the walls a lovely, robust blue. The color served as the perfect foil for the dark wood of her existing furniture.
We added the armchairs on either end of the table, and reupholstered those Louis-inspired chairs with a fawn geometric print plus a wild lipstick pink back. All of the chair fabrics are indoor-outdoor: an ideal choice for a home with kids.
The result is a room that is as tough as it is beautiful, and one of our favorite projects to date.
