Alhambra Spanish Renovation

*FEATURED 2X ON HOUZZ* A full gut renovation in a vintage-condition Spanish style 2-story home including the kitchen, dining/breakfast area, Laundry Room, and Bathroom. We opened one wall to the Living Room, took down smaller walls between Breakfast Nook and Kitchen, removed unnecessary doors, and uncovered original Douglas Fir sub-flooring, refinishing it to become the finished floor. Real Linoleum Tile flooring was added in Laundry and Bathroom. Full Custom Kitchen and Bathroom were designed and built by Julia Chasman Design.

The white Cafe Appliances Fridge was a splurge that really paid off. It's a great counterpoint to the vintage Wedgewood stove, and the rose gold handles look great with our brass hardware.

A fantastic Persian rug from Blue Parakeet Rugs brings the whole color scheme together. Vintage touches include the Wedgewood stove, the pendant light over the sink, the red bakelite clock, the vintage footstool ( a Rose Bowl find) and my collection of early California Pottery.

We removed half the full wall between the Living Room and Kitchen, and built an arched opening to make the space seem like it had always been there. The opening brought in light, and allowed us to add an island, which greatly increased our storage space and functionality in the kitchen.

Rejuvenation used to make these black porcelain sconces, and I used two I had leftover but replaced the glass shades with vintage ones from Liz's Antique Hardware. A small floating shelf holds a few extra accessories in the tiny bathroom.
