Ambient Granite
This suburban kitchen went from bland and boxy to bursting with texture, pattern, and personality. May Construction designed a smart renovation that involved opening up all the rooms on the first floor to improve traffic, all within its existing square footage.
Knocking down a wall and shifting the layout improved functionality, flow and generally enhanced the aesthetic of the entire home. Now with space to entertain, gather and cook, fresh style was imperative. The other side of the kitchen was a dark living room/study that was also brightened up considerably during the makeover. Dark colors and pine dominated the palette making it feel like a heavy space. New custom-built cabinets in creamy white now complement fireplace and provide generous storage.
By moving the oddly placed dining room allowed for a bar area and wine room. Good design and organization will help their wine room looking good and their collection safe. Adding a wine storage in the living room was not only a unique decor idea, but also keeps wine easily accessible when entertaining guests.
A new island serves as a buffet when entertaining. The bright color of the base cabinets and warm granite top shine against the massive island, stained in a delightful chocolate brown, serves as the focal point of the kitchen work area.
From the professional grade cooking appliances to the sleek white Shaker style cabinets, this stunning home is now the perfect entertaining environment these clients were dreaming of.
