The long and slender L-shaped yard posed challenges on how to incorporate all the required elements while still making the space feel opened. Rather than making the landscape lines parallel to the house, all of the key elements: raised beds, blue stone slabs, fire pit, and lawn were designed to sit at a forty-five degree angle to the house, which helped to break up the lines of the home and created cozy outdoor nooks. Placing the fire pit in the corner of the yard was pivotal to the overall layout and flow, as it allowed for the best vantage point, encourages people to circulate to all parts of the landscape.
