Club Oaks Modern Makeover

We gave this 1978 home a magnificent modern makeover that the homeowners love! Our designers were able to maintain the great architecture of this home but remove unnecessary walls, soffits and doors to open up the space. The rooms that were remodeled were the wet bar, living room, powder bath, entry, entry closet, kitchen, pantry, media room, 2nd master suite, 2nd master bath and laundry room. Our client’s wanted very clean lines, slab front cabinets, smooth walls and no crown molding.

The kitchen was dramatically updated and partially opened up. The full height wall between the kitchen and new dining room was changed to a 4’ pony wall; creating an open kitchen counter area. Bar seating was added along the open end of the kitchen with a raised graphite countertop, creating a quaint bar area for friends to sit and visit while they prepare food and drinks at their nearby new prep sink! The beautiful Blanco large undermount single bowl sink with a modern anthracite finish was installed in the original sink location, keeping plumbing work to a minimum in the kitchen. A sleek closed coil Blanco satin nickel faucet as added keeping the contemporary look a notch above the rest! The stovetop also remained in its original location, so the gas lines also stayed put. The simplicity of the slim profile stainless steel canopy vent-a-hood was perfect as-is for this stylish and contemporary kitchen. Three large horizontal pieces of smoke gray ½” glass held up by Standoff hardware were installed behind the stove wall for a contemporary clean look.

We increased the size of the pantry slightly; redesigning it to have more space and to be more accessible. A pocket door was installed so a regular door wasn’t in the way when opened. All kitchen cabinets are Waypoint Maple Slab front door in a cognac finish, which complement the graphite Vicostone quartz countertops beautifully. The elevation of the cabinets is not your norm. The majority of the kitchen storage are 2’9” wide drawers, versus cabinet doors. The appliances (2 ovens and microwave) are installed in a row, next to each other, all at eye level with cabinet doors above them all the way to the ceiling. All countertops were installed with a 3” mitered waterfall edge at 42” finished bar height for that high-end sophisticated look. The tray ceiling above the breakfast table was flattened to meet the 9’ ceiling, matching the rest of the kitchen.

The formal dining was added between the kitchen and the living room by removing walls and changing the flooring layout. The owners wanted to keep the original limestone they had installed in the kitchen and hallway. Luckily, they had extra tile, so we added it to the new formal dining area.

The new living room was lowered and floored with 17x26 Ferroker porcelain tile. A built in bookshelves and art niche was created to display the owner’s beautiful glass artwork. In the living room, we opened up the bar by removing soffits and openings, to now seat 6. The original low brick hearth was replaced with a cool floating concrete hearth from floor to ceiling. The wall that once closed off the kitchen was demoed to 42" counter top height, so that it now opens up to the dining room and entryway. The coat closet opening that once opened up into the entryway was moved around the corner in a less conspicuous location.

The powder bath off the entry was refinished, soffits removed and finished with a modern accent tile installed vertically on the wall giving it an artistic modern touch. A large Signature Hardware Galle Rectangular Vessel Sink sits atop an espresso cabinet. A sleek sophisticated backlit vanity mirror was installed to make this powder bath a perfect guest bathroom!

A large media room was created where the original formal dining room and small bedroom. The owners now have four media recliners and a media loveseat, where they can enjoy movies in the comfort of their own home! The ceiling was flattened and built-in cabinets and shelves were installed for additional storage.
The 2nd master suite was updated, adding built-in cabinets, shelves, and a desk. The secondary master bathroom originally had a small stand up shower and a tiny linen closet but now has a large double shower and a walk in closet, all while maintaining the space and sq. ft. in the bedroom.

The laundry room remained the same size and all new Siteline Fulton maple slab door cabinets were installed with an Artic finish, making it light and bright!
This transformation was amazing and the homeowners couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. Their style and taste is unique and exquisite and our designers were able to give them exactly what they were looking for.
