Coral Gables Transitional Kitchen
This beautiful home in Coral Gables had an outdated wide galley shaped thermofoil kitchen that didn't suit the upscale feel of the rest of the home. Although we didn't make huge changes to the layout of the kitchen itself, we focused our attention on improving the aesthetics as well as the functionality of how our clients use the space. Painted white shaker cabinetry lays a more modern foundation for this kitchen while the cool grey quartz gives a sleeker edge. The flooring is a wood look porcelain that injects a dose of organic neutral browns to keep things from being too cold and sterile. A 2x4 subway Carrara-look ceramic gives the backsplash a nice polished feel. The small eat-in area of the kitchen was hard to work around as it intersects the traffic flow into the room. With the addition of built-in banquette seating that keeps the table out of the way, traffic flow in and out has improved. Above the banquette seating, we added some glass cabinets for displaying some of their collected glassware. The lady of the house now has a space to manage the paperwork in the home with the addition of a small desk area with file drawers. The chair shares dual purpose between the desk and table. We also concealed the microwave in the tall pantry cabinet, a custom fabrication from Bellmont cabinetry. Miele appliances provide a chef's upgrades and features to residential sized appliances. We replaced all of the existing recessed lighting in the ceiling with LEDs and added undercabinet lighting for illuminated workstations.
