This single story ranch house had wonderful bones but the kitchen and bathroom were in sad shape. The kitchen was cut off from the living room by a full wall and the cabinets have seen better days. We opened up the space by removing most of the wall and repositioned the island for better flow. Homeowner's wish was to create a serene, simple yet rustic feel. The house is surrounded by the majestic Sierra mountains and is nestled among pine trees. So nature itself became the inspiration for this space. Kitchen cabinets are Ash in "Snowbank" by Bertch. The countertops are granite in Brushed Flannel. Skinny subway tile installed vertically everywhere including inside the countertop cabinet adds height to walls. In the bathroom, we've added stunning natural quartzite to shower enclosure and vanity countertop. Clean, monochromatic color scheme in the bathroom resonates with the organic, "woodsy" atmosphere and creates a sense of serenity and zen.
