Federal Addtion, Part Two!
In the late summer of 2016, we were given the task to add a little house for a woman who had given her big house to her granddaughter and now need a place of her own. The trick was to add it to a house that sat on a hill and integrate it to the property so that it was seperate but attached (township ordaniance required that it not be a seperate building). You can check out the design drawings and the a photo-story of the build on the project entry entitled Federal Addition.
This is the story of the interior!
The homowner challenged us to use almost exclusively furniture and decor from her previous home... and to use it all. AND to have the project for her to move in by late May. The following photos are what awaited her that evening in May as she returned from her winter home in Florida. She had not seen anything prior and to say she was speechless is an understatement! I think we overwhelmed her, to be honest, because she really didn't know what to expect and she certainly didn't expect a house, fresh but familiar, with little touches like hand towels and custom-made floral arrangements. It nearly killed us (no seriously, I don't think it could have gone on one more day before I would have just collapsed from exhaustion) but not only did we meet the challenge but we knocked it out of the park!
