Flood Damaged Remodel
This Newlands Neighborhood home was heavily damaged by a landslide during the Boulder flood in September 2013. The landslide funneled into the house’s living room and kitchen as though there was a bulls eye drawn on the facade. Mud and rock destroyed much of the interior and even flowed down the stairs to the rooms below.
The emphasis of the remodel was to redesign the living room and kitchen; the two rooms most damaged by the mud slide. The windows and doors facing the hillside were replaced with much larger units opening the views to the beautiful – but to be respected – natural landscape.
