The client had a very, almost useable loft ladder to gain access to the loft. You needed both hands to access to the space and forget about bring up a cup of coffee.
We thought about doing a metal spiral stair kit, but size wise it just didn't work out in the space provided. We had to go with a conventional set of stairs. The new design took a bit of head scratching layout. With sometime and patience we were able to come up with a safe set of stairs.
