Four Bridges View

This elegantly modern home was redesigned to take full advantage of the fantastic views of the San Francisco Bay. Sunlight and views now penetrate all public spaces of the house. The downstairs was formerly a storage/furnace area and the stair down was dark, being contained within walls at the main level. The house is now airy and open. The expansive dark wood floors and views to nature give a warm, organic feel. The matte steel of the stair guard rail adds just a hint of the edginess. The site is on an extreme slope. Balconies were added at both the upper and lower levels to allow easy outdoor access on the view side of the house. Steel and glass railings at the balconies, matching the railings inside, increase the sense of space.
