I was asked to design a patio cover structure that would give a space to entertain near the client's pool. The design was limited by the different overhangs on either side of the building. To solve this, I did a mock up with tape on the wall to get approval for the profile.

The design had to account for structural support in the walls and roof areas, as well as the footings for the columns. Rather than tear apart the decorative stamped concrete, we used deep post hole footings with lots of rebar and angle iron to attach to the columns. The steel gets placed out of direct view and then painted to match the columns. Further decoration could be done to cover them but most have just let them go as they don't really call attention to themselves.
