These children's bedrooms and en suite bathrooms reflect their parents' modernesque taste in design. Their vision of a sleekly modern home with touches of warm accent colors inspired my design process for the entire 10,000-square-foot home located on a 2.3-acre lot in Naperville, IL. We began work at the blueprints stage and set goals: to create something memorable, unique, and above all, comfortable and inviting. From my clients’ inspirational photos, I quickly imagined a lively fusion of Miami’s cool-sophisticated vibe and Midwestern warmth. The family-oriented owners have two young children and love to entertain, from intimate get-togethers to larger celebrations. But they value privacy, too. The more than 10,000-square-foot home is divided into their private spaces and areas open to family and friends on the main and lower levels. Each space, large or small, is mindfully designed to fulfill a purpose, whether that’s a play area for the children, a private office for the husband or a specially designed closet for the wife’s gowns. From top to bottom, I focused on luxury materials and furnishings, the occasional fireworks and an impeccable fit-and-finish. While the home is spacious and open, it never feels too big, and always feels welcoming.
