This project is among my list of favorite designs because of its "lighthouse" inspiration and interesting use of geometry. This new 1000sf year-round cottage on piers (located on an inlet next to a marina off Long Island Sound) is all about comfort and views. It's on a very small lot that had many restrictions set by FEMA and Westbrook Zoning that regulated the maximum height, the elevation of the first floor, and the footprint. This wonderful dwelling contains one bedroom with a sleeping loft and a separate full bathroom facility to service the boat slips on the property. The plan was sited to capture the views of the tributary, marina, and the Long Island Sound. We used materials to withstand the harsh salty weather.
