For her family retreat and short term rental investment, my Client acquired acreage adjacent to one of the lake's northern parks offering direct lake access for kayaks, jet skis and swimming. Her dream begins taking form with our creation of this small custom designed cabin, with the goal of adding a larger private residence for her family later on.

The cabin was conceived as a budget-driven modified A Frame with a generous Owner's Loft. It evolved when the cabin was re-sited to include a full basement, ending with a lower pitched roof and modest loft suite. The priority of maximizing the lake-facing view from the Great Room and Loft is achieved with full height glass lake facing facade including a pair of 12ft wide sliding doors opening to the large deck. The addition of a full basement provides easy access for jet skis and kayaks, as well as single car parking, a game room, storage and utilities.

Natural stone will clad the fireplace and foundation, adding to the cabin charm and resilience. Lightly stain washed beams, posts and T&G planked ceilings, and wood floors will add the warmth and texture to complement to modern finishes and fixtures yet to be completed.
