Hidden Valley

The neighbourhood of Hidden Valley, Calgary, is a very family oriented community. Our clients have lived in their home for a while and they were deciding between moving to a newer place or staying and updating. Since they love living where they are, they decided to stay and invited us to be a part of the process. We have worked with them in the past so it was great to come back and add some more of our work to this family’s home. We worked on their new kitchen, a dry bar and a wall panel for a television.
The kitchen has high, 10 ft ceilings so custom made cabinetry was the only choice. The total height of the cabinets was split with second tier upper glass cabinets, so they don’t appear too skinny. These upper cabinets were wrapped with 1 ½” end gables and valance light, to give it a furniture look. All of the cabinets were finished in Sherwin Williams SW7016 , Mindful grey. The beautiful glass backsplash tiles are hand made in British Columbia. A few other features are our signature spice rack, cookie tray, garbage pull out and we also added some new shelving in their existing pantry. This tall kitchen now has a well balanced look.
The new island was stained with Sambuca color from ML Campbell. The countertop on the island is flush with the perimeter of the cabinets. As a nice detail we left no overhang and kept a small reveal between the granite and the cabinet. The cabinet under the sink has 3-way access. For a cleaner look we added some touch latches on a few doors and a wine rack/bookcase. The eating area was built without brackets for increased leg room. The whole island was wrapped with furniture style toe kick.
The dry bar located off of the kitchen, also has a wine rack, only a bit different style. This wine rack is removable and the space can be used just as a bookshelf.
The TV panel was made out of a beautiful, dark walnut wood. We included a shelf that’s recessed into the wall, for a cable box and remotes.

We are so pleased with the results and the fact that this family has an updated space that will work for them and will make their daily lives just a bit more pleasant.
