Indian Hills Food Forest

When this client relocated from San Francisco in search of a slower pace and deeper connection to the land, we transformed their backyard into a self-sustaining desert retreat. Guided by permaculture principles, we installed a full water-harvesting system with basins and cisterns, integrated solar lighting, and designed edible planting zones throughout the property.

The result is a lush food forest featuring more than 50 fruit trees and edible shrubs, a dedicated mushroom garden, and a vertical hydroponic system for herbs and greens. Raised garden beds support seasonal planting, while smart outdoor lighting brings the space to life after sunset.

At the heart of it all is a fully outfitted outdoor kitchen, shaded by a custom 4K ramada structure—a modern, minimalist frame with a wood-look aluminum ceiling that feels both organic and architectural. This project reflects a beautiful collaboration between landscape design expertise and a client’s vision for rooted, intentional living.
