Industrial Lake Home

Transforming this newly built home into a destination home that reflects my client’s style and desire to entertain guests and family was one of my favorite projects.

My client’s eclectic, casually rustic style inspired my direction to blend well chosen objects with industrial finishes, reclaimed wood, funky lighting fixtures, linen and washed flannel textures. My “open concept” approach created gathering spaces that are relaxing enviroments that are comfortable, fresh and uncluttered.

“I love projects when there is a story behind the objects I incorporate into my designs.” We used reclaimed wood to cover an exposed control panel in the entertainment area. The lumber was sourced from a nearby barn that had been torn down. I selected 3 different shades of wood-installed in a random pattern accentuating the wall with texture, warmth and drama. The modified barn door hangs from it’s original rusted hinges from the barn. To add a little whimsy we used hand-painted pillows of their three dogs on the couch in the entertainment room.

My eclectic approach carried into other rooms by designing a pipe and reclaimed wood bar console behind the sofa sectional. In the kitchen’s dining area we added custom designed pipe/wood floating shelves. An old door from the farmhouse was repurposed into a rustic entrance bench. The lighting for the dining table was provided by artistically juxtaposing multiple glass hanging pendant lights over the table. The client’s collection of B&W photo’s added a personal touch with industrial flair. “ The homeowner loved all the re-purposing of the barn wood to take something old and make it new and relevant again.”
