Kid’s Nest With A View

Turning a 6’X6’ space into a fully functional kids’ bedroom was both challenging and rewarding. The leaded glass windows set the stage, so placing the bed up high takes full advantage of the view, while leaving ample room beneath for a reading hideout that doubles as an extra bed for sleepovers.
Turquoise is the favorite color of the little girl for whom we designed the space, but a deep true turquoise would have overwhelmed the space. Instead we opted for pale aqua on the walls and white furniture to keep the space feeling airy. The homemade headboard is hung on the wall while the mattress rests on a dining table that was used as a desk in the space when it was an office. The self-portrait and accessories add the finishing touches and reflect the personality of the mini who inhabits the space.
