King and Queen Bath
The objective of the project was to update the space and to create an airy, spa-like retreat. The tub was particularly challenging in that we opted not to use a hard-surface for the surround, instead we warmed it up with slate blue vertical flush boards. The counter tops are "new super white" marble and add a rich character—almost like that of an oyster shell. For the mirrors, we decided to do something special; for her vanity we used a delicate, almost feminine mirror that we called the "queen" mirror. For his vanity we used a simpler, masculine mirror and called it the "king" mirror. Focus on functionality and organization resulted in creative cabinetry design…specifically at the vanities where drawer is located at the bottom of the sink space and we added an upper linen cabinet in the water closet. Attention to design details like window casings, beaded center beams, and hardware all help to pull this room together. The bath is beautifully topped off with the chandelier made with blue crystals instead of clear.
