Their family loved being outside- whether playing, entertaining family and friends – or just curled up with a good book on a Sunday afternoon. Their current patio was too small and had started deteriorating. After the harsh winter- heavy erosion from the upper flower beds was evident and the slope of the yard kept everything muddy.

As plans for the new patio space and retaining wall began to take shape, the project began to grow. Their daughters had been dreaming of a playhouse- and how about a fireplace for those cool fall evenings?

The transformed patio and landscaped now has everything they wanted -new play areas for the kids, a larger entertaining area with fireplace for the adults, beautiful retaining walls that keep the planting beds intact. The retaining wall and fireplace were masterfully faced with organic shaped Pennsylvania Blue Stones. Varied rectangular sizes of the stone added elegance to the enlarged patio, while 2” thicknesses of the stone were used for the retaining wall caps, steps and fireplace mantel.

The girls are thrilled! Mom & Dad are thrilled! We’ve heard from the family and their guests what a nice space it is for them. The magnificent new outdoor space is all their family had wanted. The fireplace adds comfort on chilly fall evenings as neighborhood adults relax with a glass of wine and quiet conversation.
Giggles and squeals come from the adjacent playhouse as the children share make believe tea and cookies with their dolls. It truly is magic!
