Kitchen with Bureled Walnut

This very small bungalow (less than 800 sq ft), was home to one of London's top chefs. Making this small space work was very important. Designer Erica Friessen teamed with Craig at Covenant to transform this "lean to" into a kitchen fit for this chef! The unique island is burelled Walnut, great care was taken to ensure the grains and patterns were consistent and presented a wow factor. The unique shape of the island give space to the back door and stairway and opens to the dining area. Narrow cabinets were made by the back door for additional storage. Cork floor warms toes. The rebuilt room was vaulted with new trusses to give the sense of space. Skylights also aid. Using every inch of space the range is a double over, the dishwasher is a single drawer in the cabinet, there is a storage above the window, and even the ever dreaded dark corner is used. Quarztite textured countertops and the farm sink and curved panels above the stove add elegance to the space. Small spaces are harder to design than larger spaces but the quality of materials used and expert tradesmen bring it all together.
