This La Jolla, CA. two bedroom condo is a second home to a California couple. It is located right on the ocean with wonderful, natural light. The client's intent was the condo feel like a resort vacation home, and quite different from their large, traditional home in Los Angeles. We wanted to create a tropical vibe, yet keep the design simple, clean lined, and contemporary. The design evolved to an Island inspired interior with some Asian influences, including the baths, which were designed to feel like a Spa. The master bath especially feels spa-like with a large teak and concrete vanity and teak Shoji screens which close off linen and and storage closets.

The finishes and materials palette is highly textural and adds a bright, carefree resort feeling to the condo. The key to making this small space feel open was the amount and efficiency of built-in cabinetry in the kitchen, office, living and dining rooms.
